Louis Sachar during his visit to Liverpool During his recent visit to Liverpool author Louis Sachar met with pupils from at least 7 of the city's schools. In addition, Louis met happy readers from Liverpool Community College, The Frontline Centre and Crown Street Resource Centre. 

Throughout his gruelling schedule he continued to smile although he was exhausted by the end of it.

A warm thank you to everyone who volunteered for Bluecoat’s event, ‘The Hole Story’, last Saturday (11th December). The chilled but cheery readers included Nadya Mezeli; Yvonne Schumann; Sharon Connor; Steph Macdonald; Tim and Renee Hemmings; Ray Doherty; Fliss Stone; Emma Smith; Deb Barber; Sam Wilson; Annie MacLean; Bryan Biggs; Helen Tookey; Arthur and Louise Wood; Dave and Megan Roberts; Elena and Tim Deenihan; and the Casey family, who are pictured here. 

 

Penny Readings at the Walker Art GalleryPenny Readings

Walker Art Gallery Café
Around 300 people turned out for the first first of Liverpool’s ‘Penny Readings’ at the Walker Art Gallery on Monday 13th December. They crowded into the Walker’s café area, clung to the stairs and crouched around the circular balcony on the first floor. Loyd Grossman, Angela Heslop and others read aloud from ‘Holes’ and other favourites. The audience’s comments sum it up.
