Liverpool author Frank-Cottrell Boyce reading at NatWest bank, Castle Street, Liverpool
Press photograph opportunities and question and answer session
Liverpool Reads, a city-wide reading adventure now in its second year, will be launched at NatWest Bank, Liverpool City Office, Castle Street. The concept for Liverpool Reads came into being last year with events held in prisons, libraries, on public transport and in hospitals. This year the novel 'Millions' by Frank Cottrell Boyce (winner of the 2004 CILIP Carnegie award) has been chosen as the city's read.
Liverpool Reads is set to be even bigger this year and the launch will kick off this year's programme of activity, which hopes to work with various youth organisations, the Bluecoat Arts Centre, the prison service and all Liverpool Schools. You can get involved by keeping up to date with the Liverpool Reads website which is currently under the final stages of
construction.
Frank Cottrell Boyce will be reading from 'Millions' and will be available for question and answer sessions and interviews. Members of the public are able to attend for free but must contact Bea Colley, Liverpool Reads Coordinator for tickets which will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Please contact 0151 794 2291 or
b.colley@liverpool.ac.uk
for more information. There will be a number of appearances by Frank during Liverpool Reads 2005 so don't worry if you miss out on this opportunity.
The launch takes place at NatWest Bank, 22 Castle Street, Liverpool, Monday 26th September, 5.30-7pm. The bank has recently undergone a dramatic refurbishment providing more customer space and a separate business banking hall and Liverpool Reads thanks the branch manager Ian Holbrook for his support. There will be press opportunities to interview Frank and participate in the question and answer session.
