World
Book Day Reading Initiative at Prenton High School for Girls
This year we came up with something a bit different to celebrate World Book Day. On Thursday 2nd March, in addition to having lots of reading activity in School, we also taped a reading of the book 'Millions' by Liverpool author Frank Cottrell Boyce (you may have seen the film, taken from the book). With kind permission from publishers Macmillan, students and staff took turns in reading sections of the book and the tapes were then presented to Lynne Sedgwick and Geoff Pennock from local charity the Wirral Society of the Blind & Partially Sighted for use as a talking book. We are told that it has been very positively received and is being thoroughly enjoyed. Our innovation has led to a lot of interest locally and we have put in a lottery bid for equipment to enable us to establish even stronger links with the Society and to further develop our reading talents in the future.
If you would like to borrow these tapes,
please contact Bea Colley, Liverpool Reads Coordiantor on 0151 794
