What is Liverpool Reads?

The idea for a city-wide read started in Campion C. High School in 2004, taking its lead from interest generated in other citywide reads such as the one running annually in Bristol. We started with Holes by Louis Sachar and established links with the city's education department, Liverpool libraries, local businesses, sponsors, funders, and community groups. From 2005-6 the city read Millions by Frank Cottrell Boyce. This read further established links in the community, and saw a year of reading groups, public readings and school and community events.

For 2007 we embark on an even more exciting venture. Joining with Bristol, Hull and Glasgow, we will be reading
SMALL ISLAND by Andrea Levy in one of the biggest reads the country has seen!

See the Get involved / Events near you pages for ideas on how you can take part.

Please contact Bea Colley, Liverpool Reads Coordinator on 0151 794 2291 or b.colley@liverpool.ac.uk  for more details.
